RCA Show 2014

I was part of the team that designed, organised and built the History of Design exhibit for the Royal College of Art Graduate Show in 2014. Every year the graduating students of the RCA MA courses display their work in the final summer show. For the majority of students in the college this involves exhibiting their personal creative output: architects displaying their models and drawings, sculptors their sculptures, ceramicists their ceramics etc. The History of Design cohort always face the challenge of displaying our final project - a 30 000 word written dissertation. We decided to take an object-based approach (something we're very familiar with in writing design histories) and asked our colleagues on the course to provide a single object which they felt described or illustrated their research along with a short text to explain their choice. The design and construction of the exhibit is illustrated below.
